Roger Dean Anderson (1963) was born and raised in New Zealand, growing up as a member of the Reformed Churches of New Zealand. Dr. R. Dean Anderson. After completion of degrees in both music and ancient classics in New Zealand, he was sent to Canada by his home-church for studies in theology (Hamilton, Ont.).

Rev. Dr. R. Dean AndersonUpon completion of his studies he served a 12 month vicariate in New Zealand whereupon he was sent to the Netherlands for further studies. His doctorate (Th.D.) was earned at the Theological University of the Reformed Churches (Lib.) in Kampen. From 1996 to 2004 Anderson pastored the congregations of Valkenburg (ZH) and Katwijk of the Gereformeerde Kerken (Vrijg.) [Reformed Churches (Lib.)] in in the Netherlands.

Since June 2004 he pastors solely the church at Katwijk. He publishes regularly in ecclesiastical periodicals and is author of Ancient Rhetorical Theory and Paul (rev. ed. Leuven: Peeters, 1999) and Glossary of Greek Rhetorical Terms connected to Methods of Argumentation, Figures and Tropes from Anaximenes to Quintilian (Leuven: Peeters, 2000).

He is also co-editor of H. Lausberg’s Handbook of Literary Rhetoric: A Companion for Literary Study (Leiden: E. J. Brill, 1998). Anderson is a keen early keyboard enthusiast and publishes also on the topic of seventeenth- and eighteenth-century French harpsichords and their music.
